Five tips for stretching your wedding design dollars

As we are starting the busy Spring wedding season, we get asked quite often about options for stretching  the design budget. Most clients hate to hear the B word, but the reality is every wedding has a budget, the trick  is investing in high profile areas and scaling back on others. So we though  it would be fun to share a few tips for making your moment ....reflect you two, your personal style AND stretch those dollars.

1. Fist up .....trim the guest list ( I know, I know its pain full) but I tell my clients frequently that adding guest is like bad algebra. Most people think in one dimension.... maybe food, drink- but it's a little more complicated. I give my clients a magic number - take your budget say it's 30K and divide by the amount of guest you will have say it's 150 the answer is $200.00 now that's what it cost for every guest to participate in your moment. That includes seeing you in your dress, eating a great meal,  that pretty little chavari chair- favor - slice of cake - and sparkler for your exit. ( and a few more things) Then decide if you like them enough to enjoy their company at a dinner ( alone ) for $200.00 ...paints a whole different picture right ?

2.  Splurge on high profile areas - head table, bridal party, sweet heart table.  Go big here ! Add those place cards, table numbers, stunning settings, and centerpieces. Scale back on guest tables - maybe candle arrangements, or smaller centerpieces.

3. Have an abbreviated bar, you have plenty of options - beer and wine, signature drinks,  and mid grade alcohol options work really well.

4. Lighting - let's just say it covers a multitude of sins.

5. Favors - yep, I said it ! Favors ....I can't tell you how many of those I box up or trash at the nights end,  trust me your guest won't really miss the magnet.

Trolley Station wedding sneak peek

We have waited weeks to share a few of our favorite images from M + J's Trolley Station wedding.
I will tell you that M, her mom and I spent hours creating the look of their moment. Originally
the wedding was to be held out side under a tent with a stunning water front view, but April's in Texas can create a bit of a challenge. After a bit of research the bride fell in love with the trolley station located in the historical strand district, then the challenge became creating " A Starry Night " indoors .Well I would say that Heaven's Rain took our vision and nailed it !!!! I would love to share more of this celebration but we are hoping to share globally via blogs ....so we have to keep a little mystery. Until then enjoy this stunner from  Nate Messara Photography ........

Happy Anniversary from your Galveston wedding planner

I have attended the same church for the past ten years and I am always honored when I am asked to participate in celebrating special Moments for our pastors and local church body. Marriage is no easy gig but it's well worth every hill and valley. A few weeks ago our Pastors celebrated 25 years of marriage and we as a body had the opportunity to celebrate with the them. Here's a non- pro peek at our sweet table design. We also wanted to take this opportunity to tell them that we love them for all that they do for our church see and unseen, we are thankful that they love Jesus big time and that shows in how they lead and shepherd us. Enjoy the Moment !!!

Party inspiration from your Galveston wedding planner

We are always excited to have repeat clients call us for their Moments , ........ you know we are EVENT PLANNERS too not just weddings. So when we received the call from Miss. W to plan a fourth event for their family we were over the moon excited. The family matriarch is retiring and they want to honor her with a sit down dinner surrounded with close family and friends. Her favorite color is red.....yeah !!!! gives me as lot to work with right?  Not so much, but I can tell you that Mrs. W is quite lively and young at heart and I wanted to incorporate that fun feeling into her dinner. I can tell you that I am not sure how this will end but in my minds eye....we finish a little some thing like this.

I met with S and her mom almost six months ago, our initial consult started as a venue tour to offer our opinion on a wedding reception in the stunning Fox Room at the Rosenberg Library, and ended with our collaboration on the details behind the Moment. The planning has flown by quickly,  today S + J will tie the knot surrounded by both family and friends. We wanted to take a Moment to wish the two of them a life time of laughter and love. See you two soon!

behind the Moment with your galveston wedding planner

Behind the Moment  we have been heels down with the details of our final celebrations of 2014. It's been an amazing ride, and we can't wait until we can share ALL of the details with you. If you can't tell from our previous postings we are sharing just a peek into what the new year will hold. So today we decided to spill a bit more.....  our road to becoming a wedding planner has made us  well equipped to handle the issues that will happen behind the scenes. What started as a hobby has evolved over the years and I've honestly set a few things on the shelf, but as of late I have revisited my journals and made mental notes, and it has created a spark in me. I said ALL of that to say ..... that we are currently enrolled in floral design, and we are EXCITED to learn more and to add this as this  as option for our clients. Yeah !!!!!! it's really happening and we can't wait to share a few of our favorite creations over the next few weeks. SO we thought it would be fun to share a few of our favorite creations. It's a good read from where you started to where your going.........SOoooooo here we go !

New services from your Galveston Wedding Planner

We are over the moon excited about our new service offerings to clients in 2015. The journey  to wedding planning has been just that a journey, what started with "learning to make bows" has evolved over the years. To think that two leisure courses of floral design, followed with cakes ( hated it ) and ended with a certificate in wedding and event planning lead me to create Moments. We have used our experience to create florals only when we felt we could produce the final product to our clients specifics, so this year we have committed to learning florals in greater detail. Our mission is to create a collaborative effort  from the start of the planning process, the service will include minimally one group brain storm with every vendor. In my minds eye this collective will create a more  polished Moment, because  every vendor has the ability to dream along with the clients. From pretty papers, florals, lighting, libations,  linen ....woooooo it's swoon worthy!!!!!!  We wanted to also share a teaser image of our previous floral work ....it's a stunning bouquet from B + D's wedding on Galveston. They trusted Moments with the vision of the day and we LOVED it ! (p.s. it was actually out first featured press wedding) . We can't wait to reveal the services in greater detail, until then we will continue creating Moments. Happy Friday y'all !
