Now that your engaged .....what's next ?

Congratulations on your engagement ! We know that your mind has been racing since your intended popped the question, and it's so hard to narrow down what's THE NEXT thing to do. Take a deep breath and know that the planning process is a journey, that will be filled with a mix of emotions and it's ok to take a few days off. Now let's get to the nitty gritty, of what's actually the next step. From experience we know that most brides select their gown or even a venue, but let's put a hard stop right there,  your first step is chatting with your intended, and your families about the wedding budget and who will contribute. We know, we know numbers right out the gate can sound stressful, but it's actually one of best things that your both can do. Did you know the average wedding budget is $34,000 ?
That is a lot of cash, and most people have not planned for that number so a conversation has to be had because EVERY decision you make is relative to that number. It dictates the venue that you can accommodate, guest count, the dress, florals and all the details that follow. Let's do a quick break out on numbers that cross my desk daily....

Venue on a Saturday night $4500.00
Security $210.00 ( x 2 )
Cake $800.00 + 75.00 for delivery
Full service caterer with bar tenders and linen $11,776.00 ( oh ! and that's a real number not a typo )
Entertainment : Strings $800.00
DJ $1650.00
Total : $ 20,021.00
I think you get the point here .....you can see that we have not added quite a few necessary vendors and we have almost topped out. We hope that this drives home how important a budget is for you in the planing process, this one thing can help you avoid loosing time visiting vendors who are not within your allocation, and over spending early and coming up short on the back end. So grab a glass of your favorite champagne,  pick of your favorite cheese cake and invite your parents over to show off your ring a little more and chat it up about the budget. There are ton's of resources to calculate your budget, and if those who need a bit more guidance we would love to see you in the office to talk in greater detail about your moment.  Congrats again !

What we love about weddings by Galveston Wedding Planner

Now you guys and girls all know we love every thing wedding, BUT truth be told we do have a few FAVORITE things that happen on wedding day. We have tried to nail down exactly what it is about those moments  that make us gush with joy, or literally ugly cry happy tears. Now we know that your wracking your brain to figure out exactly what they are ...so let's get to it !

1. We love when the bride is getting dressed, and just over her shoulder her is mom beaming with pride, sharing last minute marriage wisdom, and her heart for her daughters future.
2. When the bride puts on the dress, and the fairytale day beings.
3. We absolutely swoon when we see all the details that we have planned for months come together and are just the perfect match.
4.  Our favorite thing is just before the bride walks down the aisle,  and she is just outside the church doors with her father ( insert real ugly tears here)  we have been privileged to some sweet and intimate conversations that we will for ever hold close.
5.  AND when we see a packed dance floor filled with generations dancing to the beat......their is nothing like it !

Doyle Convention Wedding of N + D

This weekend N + D tied the knot  in their home town of Texas City. ( mine too)
The bride processed down the aisle to Cannon in D played by a mariachi.  It was simply a sweet moment ! From there guest were greeted with margaritas and the lively sounds of the mariachi through out cocktail hour. The bride selected the color palette of green, cream and gold. It was absolutely PERFECT! We don't want to spill all of the beans, so we will save those until all of the wedding day portfolio arrives. Until then let's drool over the sneak peeks !

A + M Married at Galveston Moody Mansion

I can't believe it's been a year since this intimate celebration. Can I be honest ? We love love weddings of all kinds, but those with guest counts under fifty feel soooooo different,  and A + M's moment was just that. Early on the couple decided on that their celebration would be intentionally intimate, inviting only 40 guest to celebrate their nuptials at the stunning Moody Mansion. They selected a warm color palette of champagne, gold, with hints of green. ( Not too much for the space)
The couple exchanged vows in the mansions grand foyer, surrounded by family and the rich architecture of the space. The evening closed with dinner and dancing, and smiling faces.
PERFECT ! We wanted to take the time to say Happy anniversary, cheers to a hundred more !

Galveston wedding planner highlights The Trolley Station Wedding venue

It's wedding Wednesday and today we are highlighting the Trolley Station, it's the newest venue located in the historic strand district of Galveston island. I would describe the space as industrial, open, airy, and just super cool. Upon arrival guest are immediately intrigued by the festive sights and sounds of the islands strand. On the weekends you can find performers, movies, horse drawn carriages, combined with the variety of unique boutiques. Once inside your guest are greeted by a grand stair case that leads to the ball room. The details include seating for up to 300, two beautiful bars,  an intimate seating area for those who had enough fun dancing, a raised stage that is the perfect location for a band to rock out the party, and my favorite detail....the wrap around balcony. It's a stunning view of the sun set. WOW ! JUST WOW ! If you have not selected a space to celebrate
your moment you definitely need to give them a ring to schedule your site tour. Then give us a ring to chat it up over champagne and cupcakes. We can't wait to hear from you ! Now you guys and girls know that we can't end this post without sharing a few of our favorite weddings in the space. Enjoy !

Noah's Dickinson Wedding of C + C

Candace and Clifton met in high school at the local skating rink, and as she tells it he walked right up to her and asked " don't I look better than that other guy your with ", and walked off with her hand in his.  (seriously you have to admire that confidence right ? ) They would date off and on over the years, until what seemed like the final chapters of their moment were written. Until years  later their mutual friends would  exchanged their " how are they doing " messages,  and then a call or two.The rest as they say is history.  The two tied the knot this summer on a rainy after noon in July, surrounded by family, and friends. The bride selected a stunning color palette of grey, orange, purple and white combined with the stunning backdrop of Noah's Dickinson. We wanted to take a moment to wish the Newly weds many years filled with lasting joy. Congratulations !

What was your inspiration for the look of your wedding?

The inspiration was originally and our door wedding, but in Texas we did not want to risk any potential weather issues. So the challenge was to bring the out doors inside, and we did that by adding greenery, tons of florals combined with a few unique elements.
